Welcome to the Northern Golf Association

The Northern Golf Association (NGA) is the parent body for the organization and authorization of tournaments and tournament play within the boundaries of the Association and endeavours to avoid and resolve conflicts of tournament dates. In addition the Association is the liaison body between our members and the Ontario Golf Association (OGA).

To promote the game at all levels it is essential that all golf clubs be a part of and contribute to their Association. The NGA is your association and through our affiliated associations, organized competition is offered at the Regional, Provincial, National and International levels. Registered members of the NGA are eligible to compete in NGA, GAO and RCGA events. As well, NGA membership is required to play in many tournaments staged by NGA clubs. Many tournaments in this province and in the United States require the competitor to produce an Association card with certified up to date Index factor (handicap) before the golfer can compete. Your Association card is also a means of introducing yourself at other golf courses in this province and world wide.

A member club and the members receive a wide range of assistance relating to all aspects of the game of golf including course rating service and greens maintenance advice at reduced costs; publications and assitance with regards to The Rules of Golf, Handicapping, Amateur status; advice on conducting golf events and junior programs. Members also receive an annual report of the activities of the association: advance information on upcoming events and immediate notification of any changes in policy. The NGA works closely with the GAO and the RCGA to further develop the game of golf and promote your concerns to both of these governing units.

During the last few years the NGA has embarked on an ambitious program to Slope Rate all member courses. Some difficulties were experiences, but we are proud to announce that all our clubs have had their initial rating and we are no beginning the review process. This rating service allows all of the members to relate their home-club index to any club in North America, thus ensuring the playing field and the competition is equitable to all.

The NGA is YOUR Association, bu is only effective if you give it your full support financially. It is truly a small price to ensure the integrity and enjoyment of the game for all.
